Vertical integration of legacy maps
With digital cartography it is really simple to combine layers from different sources in a seamless way. However, such information might not share a common cartographic base, which in practice impedes the use of legacy data without significant edition costs.
Semi-automatic techniques are required in order to lower budgets and meet deadlines.
The experience with rubber-sheeting like functions, usually available in most GIS, is that they are not suitable in many cases, so other solutions are required.
